Welcome from the Headteacher

It is a privilege to introduce myself as the new Headteacher of The Royal Kent Church of England Primary School. Nestled in the heart of Oxshott, our one-form entry primary school has been at the centre of the village community for over two centuries, and I am both proud and excited to lead this next chapter in its rich history.

At The Royal Kent School, we are united by a shared commitment to nurturing every child’s academic, personal, and spiritual development. Our five core values; Cognisance, Commitment, Compassion, Courage and Creativity, are at the heart of school life and underpin everything we do. These values not only shape our curriculum and wider provision but also guide our children in becoming thoughtful, resilient and compassionate individuals.

As a small school, we are incredibly fortunate to know every child well. This sense of closeness allows us to offer a caring, supportive environment where children feel valued and secure. Our dedicated staff team work tirelessly to ensure that every child is both challenged and supported to reach their full potential and we are equally supported by our engaged and enthusiastic parent community.

Our school's infrastructure has been hugely improved through significant donations from the PTA, as well as Elmbridge CIL funding. Over half a million pounds has been invested in our school's indoor and outdoor infrastructure in recent years.

Although we are a Church of England school, we warmly welcome families of all faiths and none. Our Christian foundation influences our ethos and approach, fostering a spirit of kindness, reflection and respect. We enjoy strong links with St Andrew’s Church and offer our children a broad experience of faith and spirituality that encourages curiosity, understanding and personal growth.

The school’s setting in beautiful, expansive grounds adds to the richness of our pupils’ daily experiences, whether that be through active outdoor learning, creative play, or team sports. Beyond the classroom, we offer a wide range of enrichment opportunities that allow our children to explore their interests, express themselves and contribute to the wider community, taking part in a range of events, such as charity fundraisers, music events and sporting activities with other local schools as part of the Effingham Learning Partnership and Esher District Sports Association.

The Royal Kent School is a school where learning is celebrated, individuality is cherished and everyone belongs. I am delighted to be part of this vibrant community.

Thank you for visiting our website. I hope you enjoy exploring it and discovering more about our wonderful school.

With warm regards,

Vanessa Cooper
